Jessica L. Wolf is the band director at Somers High School and Mabelle B. Avery Middle School, where she has taught instrumentalists in grades 6-12 for the past four years. During her tenure she has initiated many new programs, including an Honors Band Class, the All District Concert and “Celebration of the Arts,” an interdisciplinary art, culinary, and music extravaganza. Previously, Mrs. Wolf has worked with several band programs over the course of her 13 year career, including Tourtellotte High School and Parish Hill High School, where she initiated several new programs such as the Parish Hill Jazz Band, the Surround Sound Chamber Ensemble, the Community Summer Band and the Parish Hill Percussion Ensemble. As a musical theater pit director, Mrs. Wolf has worked with drama programs in Suffield, Chaplin, and Somers CT, where she had the opportunity to music direct several productions, including “Into the Woods,” “Guys and Dolls” and “The Drowsy Chaperone.” She has also played reeds for many shows around the state of Connecticut. She received her music education degree, with an emphasis on flute performance, from the Hartt School of Music where she studied with Greg Shearer of the Hartford Symphony and Janet Arms of the New York City Opera Orchestra. She has studied conducting with several of the leading wind conductors of our time, including Frank Ticheli, Frank Battisti and Glen Adsit. In her spare time, Mrs. Wolf likes to sing barbershop music, and has performed with the Sweet Adeline International champion chorus “Millennium Magic.” She also enjoys yoga, crochet and running in South Windsor, where she resides with her husband and son.
